The morning of…

It’s the morning of your wedding and you are full of a mix of different emotions – happiness, nervousness, excitement, anticipation and just plain pure joy. There has been so much planning leading up to the day and you have everything in place. If you are a list person you will be in your element because this is the best way to stay on top of everything and get a good nights sleep. Here are a couple of tips to make sure nothing is overlooked. (These are mainly directed at the bride because lets face it, they are the ones who will have the most going on!)

Timelines/Schedule
You can never be too organised. You will have lots of people involved who will all need to work together. Make sure you have your hair and makeup finished in plenty of time to get dressed, have your photographer take some photos, enjoy a glass of bubbly and relax. Make sure everyone knows what is going on so they are not having to check in with you every 5 minutes.

  • When you get dressed pre hair and make-up make sure you put on something with a zip or a silk robe (this is the perfect comfy and feminine option). Just make sure it does not need to come off over your head.
  • Check with your hairdresser and make-up artist to see how long they need for each person.
  • The space where you are getting ready needs lots of natural light.
  • Organise for someone to be in charge of deliveries – for example: the flowers and the cake.
  • Take the dresses out of the bags and hang them up. This is especially important for your wedding dress – it needs time to breathe! This will be a great opportunity for your photographer to take some snaps.

Food and Drink
It is important to stay hydrated and also have something in your stomach. EAT BREAKFAST! Smoothies are a great solution which tick both boxes. You definitely don’t want your tummy rumbling in the middle of your ceremony. Make sure you have enough for everyone. Fruit or sandwich platters are a good idea to munch on during the morning and can be easily prepared the evening before. According to stylecraze.com, these are the best fruits for glowing skin: bananas, lemons, oranges, apples and papaya.

Emergency Kit
Expect the unexpected and don’t panic. Think about everything that could go wrong and pack a kit that can fix all of these problems! You could include things like a sewing kit, scissors, tape, tweezers, extra pairs of stockings, mints, lip balm, moisturiser, pain killers, deodorant, spare toothbrush and toothpaste, nail file, safety pins, hairspray, cotton wool balls, straightener and hair dryer.

Relax
Let everyone take care of you. This is the one day you do not have to be thinking about anyone else.

  • Don’t worry about what the groom is doing. You can rest assured his morning will be much less busy than yours! He will most probably be watching TV or sport with his bridal party…
  • Take some music. Create a special playlist for the occasion.
  • Think positive and be yourself.
  • Breathe, laugh and have fun!
We love this selection of photos Just For Love Photography captured of Jade and Sam getting ready for their big day. These photos give the bride and groom an insight to each other’s time before the ceremony and are a wonderful addition to your wedding album. Jade was already on the property at the Homestead, while Sam got ready offsite and arrived at Branell for the ceremony.

Ceremony by the Homestead

The other popular location couples use for their ceremonies is on the lawn in front of the Homestead. This spot has fantastic views over the Lockyer Valley and the Branell property. Guests can move out on to the lawn for the ceremony, then head back to the verandah for nibbles while the photos are taking place.

Weddings at Branell are unique. Imagine being given the freedom to create the best day of your life, exactly how you want it to be. You know what style of wedding you are after, you’ve been dreaming of this day for years! We’ll loan you the entire 80 acres, the Homestead and the Wedding Pavilion for a couple of days. But most importantly, we’ll give you the freedom you need to turn your fairytale dream into a reality.

You can book an appointment to view the property and meet with one of our event specialists. Head to our website and click on the ‘Book an Appointment’ button in the top right.

Lighting up the Dark

The photos don’t stop when the sun goes down, and neither does the fun! We receive some fantastic night time photos of our Pavilion area, and wanted to share a selection with you. We never get over how unique each image is. It is amazing how the colours and sky look so different. And do we need to mention the reflections…WOW!

Painting the sky with colour

Sun rays, reflections, colour and shadows all play a part in this next series of photos. Most have been taken in the late afternoon, just before sunset.  It is amazing how different the colour of the sky is in each photo.

Branell Homestead has a variety of spots that are popular with couples and their photographers, but we are seeing more and more creative compositions with every wedding. Make sure you are guided by your photographer because lets face it, they are pretty damn talented people.

We don’t really have to say much more because these photos speak for themselves. We hope they give you some inspiration to start planning your own photography.

Sunset Snaps

One thing we can say about Branell Homestead, is that we definitely have some great vantage points to capture the sunset. A newly married couple gazing lovingly into each others eyes, stealing a sneaky kiss with a stunning Lockyer Valley sunset in the background…ahhh, how romantic!

We have included some examples of photos below from a variety of photographers. Popular spots include our jetty, on the main driveway, walking through the mango trees and the lawn in front of the Homestead which has an elevated view over the Lockyer Valley. Some couples also take advantage of the cabins which are located at the top of the hill and overlook the whole property. The colours in these photographs are amazing!

With the warmer months ahead, sunset ceremonies and photo shoots are popular. Make sure your photographer has scouted out the property to capture the perfect spot to snap your first sunset together as a married couple.

Tell us a little about your business…
We are Fable House Films and we specialise in wedding videography. We are two ladies who love to tell stories through film and there is no greater story than a love story.

How would you describe your style?
Our style is typically cinematic videography with bright, crisp footage however, we are happy to adapt our style to one that our bridal couples may request.

What parts of the wedding day do you capture?
Each wedding day is unique and each couple have their own preferences for what they would like captured. We offer several different packages and can tailor make our coverage for each couple. Our most popular wedding package covers the bride and groom getting ready in the morning, coverage of the ceremony, filming of highlights at after photos and reception coverage.

How does the whole process work? (from planning, to event, to post production)
We always request to have a meeting with our brides and grooms in the weeks or months prior to their wedding to sit down and answer any questions they may have, to explain our process and to work out a timeline with them for their wedding day. On the big day, we aim to be discreet while capturing unique and intimate moments but we also love to have a laugh and help the bridal party relax and enjoy the day.

One favourite/funny memory from a wedding?
In every wedding there is always a build up to the ceremony and the anticipation for a groom to see his bride for the first time can be emotional. The bride doesn’t always see her partners reaction and yet, it’s the only one that really matters. This is just one of the countless moments in a wedding that we love to capture for our couples and one that we’re sure they love watching back for years to come.

What is one piece of advice you would give couples when thinking about their wedding video?
When planning your wedding video, it is important to consider getting the most out of the daylight. This might involve choosing a location where you have little to no travel time. A location where you may be able to get ready, have your ceremony and reception all in one and in doing so, allow more time after your ceremony to capture the precious moments as a new husband and wife.

WEDDING PROFESSIONAL SHOWCASE: WEEK 6

Each week we will have the honour of hearing from an industry professional, who will provide general information about their business and some tips to couples just about to start planning their big day. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming trying to book everything for your wedding, let alone knowing what questions to ask! We are hoping our Wedding Professional Showcase series of blogs will give you a good head start.

Whitedress Productions specialises in wedding, event and portrait videography and photography. Husband and wife team Robert and Katalin, have a wealth of experience in the industry both creatively and technically. Their creative style is all about capturing real, candid and natural moments as they happen. With glowing reviews from past clients, Whitedress Productions strive to provide you with service and results that exceed your expectations.

Tell us a little about your business…
We’re a husband and wife team based in Brisbane who specialise in wedding and event videography and photography.  We film, shoot, design and craft full high definition cinematic films and capture high resolution images of you and your wedding day. If you’re looking for affordable packages with stunning wedding films then we’d love to hear from you.

How would you describe your style?
We get told all the time that we’re down to earth operators who listen to what you want and then add our creative experience to make your films and photographs amazing. We love natural candid shots using professional equipment and techniques that result in imagery that you will love watching and re-living over and over.

What parts of the wedding day do you capture?
We capture as much of your wedding story as you would like. Before booking us we meet our couples and provide them with all the information necessary to help make them informed decisions about the type of package and the amount of coverage they’re after. At weddings, we seek out special moments on the day as they unfold from preparations to some pretty awesome reception celebrations! We also complete your story with personalised shots of your venue, décor, the little details and we always make sure your family and guests are included as well.

How does the whole process work? (from planning, to event, to post production)
The process starts with the most important pre-wedding consultation. During this meeting we get to know each couple, talk about their plans, style, music choices and provide detailed explanations about what they’re looking for and what ‘works’ in a film. We keep in touch from the day they book us until their completed wedding pack is ready for delivery around 4 – 6 weeks after their wedding day.  Our service is flexible so if your plans change as planning progresses, then we’ll incorporate your changes.

One favourite/funny memory from a wedding?
We think we’ve been so lucky because we’ve met the most wonderful couples and their families, so we love all things weddings. But our favourite thing would have to be hearing our couples tell us that having us with them on their day made it more special and how much their wedding film means to them.

What is one piece of advice you would give couples when thinking about their wedding video?
We can’t say how many times we’ve heard people say that they wished they had included videography into their wedding budget. Wedding films are a lifelong memory of motion, sound and emotion. You can’t put a price on the value of being able to share this amazing milestone in your life into your future.  We make our wedding videography packages affordable and give you lots of little extras! And another important thing to consider when selecting any supplier is to make sure you ‘fit’ together creatively and know exactly what you’re getting in your package. When you book us, we’ll be with you on the day, we’ll hand craft and hand edit every image we capture and we make sure that the finished product is amazing!
