Photo locations close to Branell

The Lockyer Valley is an area with many hidden treasures. Some couples take the opportunity to head off the property to take photos at a second location. We have included some ideas below to get you thinking. It you are considering other locations it might be a good idea to spend a day in the Lockyer Valley checking out some of the local spots. One thing to keep in mind is that you do not go onto anyone’s property without permission. Everyone is friendly and accommodating in the area, but please be mindful of respecting private property.

~ Laidley Railway Station ~

Tom Hall Photography captured some fantastic photos of Sharon and Nathan at the Laidley Railway Station. This is a great location to get some unique backgrounds and create memories that are a little bit different. And better still, it is only 5 minutes from Branell Homestead.

We also have some breathtaking scenery that you can capture just by setting up on the side of the road. Please make sure you watch out for traffic though. The locals are used to seeing the odd cow here and there, but maybe not a whole bridal party and photographer! The below photos of Kristy and Bartek are right outside the entry to Branell Homestead. You can see our Luxury Cabins on the hill in the background.

~ Laidley’s Main Street ~

The charm and heritage of Patrick Street are a definite drawcard. The Queensland National Hotel has a lovely big verandah, Das Neumann Haus is a historical museum with the well known Clydesdale horse out the front and the Eagle Rock Cafe is a must see for lovers of everything retro. Local business owners and the community are very welcoming and love seeing new people visit the town, so why not go and say hello and see what hidden treasures you discover!

Photo opportunities on our property

We are super fortunate to have some very talented photographers visit our property every week. No matter how many weddings we have, each one is unique and we are always amazed by the different photography styles and images captured at Branell.

When organising your photography, make sure you chose a photographer who has a style you admire and one that you feel comfortable with. After all, they are going to be capturing the special moments of your wedding day, so you want them to also capture the emotion and feelings. Let your photographer know if there are any particular photos you want, but then let them create their magic!

We have lots of popular spots on the property for photos and have included some below, but there are plenty more to discover. If your photographer hasn’t been to the property before it might be worthwhile making an appointment with us so they can see everything first hand. You can make appointments via the home page of our website, contact us via email or phone (07) 5465 1788.

Painting the sky with colour

Sun rays, reflections, colour and shadows all play a part in this next series of photos. Most have been taken in the late afternoon, just before sunset.  It is amazing how different the colour of the sky is in each photo.

Branell Homestead has a variety of spots that are popular with couples and their photographers, but we are seeing more and more creative compositions with every wedding. Make sure you are guided by your photographer because lets face it, they are pretty damn talented people.

We don’t really have to say much more because these photos speak for themselves. We hope they give you some inspiration to start planning your own photography.

Capturing a story

WEDDING PROFESSIONAL SHOWCASE: WEEK 2

Each week we will have the honour of hearing from an industry professional, who will provide general information about their business and some tips to couples just about to start planning their big day. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming trying to book everything for your wedding, let alone knowing what questions to ask! We are hoping our Wedding Professional Showcase series of blogs will give you a good head start.

Loren Hayne is a local photographer who we have the pleasure of seeing frequently at Branell. She has a unique style, one which reflects the personality of the couples and truly captures all of those special moments. There are a large number of photos accompanying the editorial because we found it too hard to choose only a couple! We hope you enjoy reading Loren’s piece below and getting inspiration from her fantastic photos.

My name is Loren Hayne. I am Tall Timber Studio Mt Crosby. A nimble, creative and well-respected photographic studio amongst the tall gumtrees of Brisbane’s outer-west.

I am creative, passionate and renowned for what I do. I am a creator of photographs. I have an undeniable lust for texture, light, colour and emotion. My style is contemporary (to a point), Fun (never boring) and Classical (style that never dates). My photographs are “one of kinds” that ooze emotion, vibrancy and originality. I believe in presenting you with photographs that will not date – I want you to look back on them and love them just the same years down the track.

Vivacious and fun loving, my personality is expressed through my photography. Tall Timber Studio has rapidly gained a reputation as a well-respected wedding studio, a reputation spread by word of mouth. Many of my clients are repeat clients and have also since become great friends. I have not only been fortunate to have captured their wedding day, but for some, the arrival of precious newborns and others’ regular family portraits.

Published, trusted, exhibited and proven, I am known as a specialist in wedding photography. I have over 15 years experience in the industry having had my photographs published in top bridal magazines & websites, exhibited in exhibitions and showcased by some of Australia’s top wedding venues and wedding dress designers. I have lost track of the number of weddings I have photographed… but it must be in the vicinity of 300 weddings.

A country girl, raised on a farm in the Lockyer Valley, I have lived and worked in the Valley region all my life and this is where I established my photographic career. I have a passion for the region and love “country” weddings. Branell Homestead is the perfect venue for couples seeking a country theme for their special day with grassy open paddocks, horse stables, a fruit orchard, cattle & chickens, not to mention the gorgeous homestead itself.   My favourite time of year to photograph at Branell is Autumn, when you’re blessed with sensational sunsets and golden afternoon light.

What I enjoy most about wedding photography is capturing the raw emotion of it all; the excited brides, nervous and sometimes emotional grooms, the first glimpse, teary parents, jubilant celebrations and reception shenanigans. There is nothing more thrilling than capturing these fleeting moments in time that may have been forgotten if not for treasured photographs. I am able to capture not only the people, but the surrounds and other little snippets at the wedding and blend all aspects of the event into a collection of images to treasure.

I take extreme pride in my work, it is simply not a case of turning up and clicking a button. There are no limits to the number of images captured on your wedding day… from the moment I arrive to the time I leave I am there capturing your story. I photograph with high end photographic equipment and always have another experienced wedding photographer with me on the day to ensure the emotion, the fun and the formality of your day is 100% covered. I shoot with Canon DSLR’s and provide couples with a USB of high resolution digital images in a variety of colour and B&W formats. Upon request, I can also organise specialised prints and albums.

TTS49

The one single piece of advice I would give couples planning their wedding is:
After the cake is cut, the flowers have wilted and the last favour has been stuffed into your Aunty Margaret’s purse, only your photos remain. Wedding photos are a cherished keepsake, passed down through generations, and the only commemoration of thousands of hours and dollars spent to plan one of the most important days of your life. Other than a choice of spouse, the choice of wedding photographer is the most important wedding-related decision you will make.
