Made up to impress

Each week we will have the honour of hearing from an industry professional, who will provide general information about their business and some tips to couples just about to start planning their big day. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming trying to book everything for your wedding, let alone knowing what questions to ask! We are hoping our Wedding Professional Showcase series of blogs will give you a good head start. To kick off week 1, we are pleased to introduce Kristy from Alluring Airbrushed Makeup. She has provided some stunning photographs to accompany her text below.

Tell us a little about your business Alluring Airbrushed Makeup
I am an Ipswich based professional makeup artist and I specialise in airbrushed and traditional makeup application for occasions such as weddings, formals and any other special event.

What makeup looks and styles do you recommend for bridal?
I recommend the makeup be natural, gorgeous and glowing, with soft definition on the eyes and a natural lip – unless you are having a theme to your wedding, which means your make-up could be whatever you like. I think all the elements of the look should work together, so eyes are defined, brows are groomed, skin looks radiant and glowing, lashes are long and fluttery, and cheeks and lips look kissable and glamorous.

How long do you allow for each person to be made up?
I allow approximately one hour for makeup application.

Favourite colour combinations?
My favourite colour combination is a nude lip paired with a brown smokey eye.

Do you often get asked to match makeup finishes from photographs or magazines? Is this easy to do?
I do sometimes get asked to match makeup from photographs and I can achieve this fairly closely to the photo.

One favourite/funny memory from a wedding?
I have had my bridal clients cry with happy tears after they see their makeup done which is always very special.

What is one piece of advice you would give brides?
One piece of advice I would give to brides would be to get a makeup and hair trial prior to the wedding day so you can get a visual on what it will look like on your special day.
