For the Love of Food

Gone are the days where the traditional alternate drop menu is the only option for a wedding. More and more couples are opting for contemporary ideas, ones which often carry a personal link. With the abundance of cooking shows we are all becoming “foodies” to some degree, which is opening the door to many more diverse ideas. There is also an increased awareness of food trends. As Virginia Woolf once said, “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”

The great thing about choosing Branell Homestead as your wedding venue is that you are simply hiring the space. What you decide to do within that space is up to you, because we want you to create your perfect wedding. We will do our best to accommodate all of your requests. You can hire your own caterers or create your own culinary magic. We have included some food ideas below to get you thinking.

Alternate Drop Menu: Still a favourite. Sit down formal setting which can be as fancy or simple as you want. Make sure you don’t discount the power of the good old favourite – the roast.

Cocktail Style Event: A stress free option for your guests as your menu will not require utensils to eat. Once again this could be as fancy or simple as you please. You could even introduce a theme. This style encourages people to mingle.

Buffet: Casual and relaxed. This option ensures your guests get to choose their own food.

Wood fired Pizzas: The perfect idea for those cold winter nights. You can choose the type of pizzas served. We have even seen some of our guests include a pizza named after the bride and groom.

Tapas: Remember that wonderful holiday you had in Spain together…well why not bring the flavour of this memory to your wedding.

Food Vans: Seems this idea is the new kid on the block and is quickly gaining popularity. Check out this website for a listing of food trucks and vans available in Queensland.

Breakfast Brunch: Perfect for the low key couple. Include a mix of delicious pastries, fruit and great coffee.

Lunch: You could have a gourmet BBQ, buffet style catering or a simple cocktail style menu.

Afternoon Tea: What else can we say but bring on the delicious afternoon tea treats!

Dessert Only: Something a little bit different. A playful late evening alternative. Who honestly doesn’t love a good chocolate fountain, a candy buffet, quality coffee and decadent chocolate liquors? Just make sure you have a good balance of flavours and alternatives. You don’t want your guests to have a chocolate overload.

DIY Food Stations: Guests can make their own concoctions – e.g: cocktails, flavoured milkshakes, rice paper rolls. You could even have some late night snacks for people that build up their appetite dancing the night away.

Happy eating!
